Tandem sign-up appointment

Soon after you move into your new home, Tandem will contact you to offer you an appointment over the telephone.  Here are some examples of the type of things that your adviser may be able to help with during this appointment:

  • Complete a quick benefit check to see if you are entitled to any additional income
  • Give advice on the information you need to provide to make sure any housing benefit continues to be paid in your new home
  • Talk about how and when to pay your rent and who to contact if you are having difficulty paying, so you don’t get into rent arrears or face eviction in the future
  • Look into your financial situation if you ask us to, to help you deal with any problem debts
  • Talk about how to get the things you need for your home, without overstretching yourself financially
  • Help you to understand your options and compare the cost of loans, if you are thinking about borrowing money
  • Assist you to choose and open a bank account or credit union account
  • Check the cheapest suppliers for your gas, electricity, phone and other bills
  • Talk about the costs of running your home, the bills you will need to pay and the difference between priority and non-priority debts
  • Answer general questions about home contents insurance, including the Erimus Housing and Tees Valley Housing home contents insurance scheme
  • Refer you on to other agencies for specialist benefits, debt or financial advice
  • Help you with any other financial problems or any worries you tell us about
