Ms X from Middlesbrough could be around £ 2,406 better off this year, after her Tandem appointment
Ms. X was struggling to pay her rent and had rent arrears. In the appointment, a Tandem adviser checked to see if she was entitled to Housing Benefit. She was, so her adviser helped her to claim and asked that her payments were backdated.
Ms. X was given £430 in backdated benefit (which paid off her rent arrears) and awarded £38 housing benefit a week.
Mr. Y could be around £691 better off this year, after his Tandem appointment
A Tandem adviser helped Mr. Y to claim £537 in backdated housing benefit. During the appointment, she also arranged for Mr. Y to change to a cheaper gas fuel tariff, saving him about £54 per year . She also helped him to save another £100 a year on his phone bills.
Ms Z had a letter from her water supplier asking for £144 to be paid over the next 2 months. Ms Z couldn’t afford to pay this so rang Tandem for an appointment.
Tandem arranged for the arrears to be added to this year’s water bill. This reduced her monthly payments to £37, which Ms Z was able to afford.
